Drill #1: Dribble Pull-up

Drill #1: Dribble Pull-up

  • Start 12-15 feet (4-5 meters) from the basket.
  • Flick the ball to yourself and step into your shot.
  • Jab or pump fake or both, then take one dribble to your left and step into your shot.
  • BEEF
  • Repeat, now alternate dribbling hand. 
  • Shoot 5 times dibbling with your left hand, then 5 when dribbling with your right hand.
  • 10 shots from 5 spots.

Key Points:

  1. Check your feet when stepping into your shot. Must be facing the basket.
  2. Start slow, then build your speed into your shot.
  3. Focus on your target. 
  4. Practice the correct form.

What You Need:

  1. A basketball.
  2. A regulation basket.
  3. If necessary: Cones

Drill #2: Movement Shooting

Drill #2: Movement Shooting

  • Start from the short corner and flick the ball to the wing .
  • Step into your shot.
  • BEEF.
  • Now flick the ball from the wing to the short corner. Keep alternating spots.
  • Shoot 5 shots from both spots.
  • Move to elbow to elbow.
  • Then the opposite wing and short corner.

Key Points:

  1. Watch your foot work when stepping into the shot.
  2. Focus on using your legs for balance and power.
  3. Start slow then speed up at your own pace.
  4. Focus on your form.

What You Need:

  1. A basketball.
  2. A regulation basket.
  3. If necessary: Cones

Drill #3: Spot Shooting (3 pointers)

Drill #3: Spot Shooting (3 pointers)

  • Pick 5 spots to shoot from behind the 3 point line.
  • Flick the ball to yourself and step into your shot.
  • BEEF
  • Shoot 10 shots from your 5 spots.

Key Points:

  1. Use your legs.
  2. Focus on your form.
  3. Find your target.

What You Need:

  1. A basketball.
  2. A regulation basket.
  3. A regulation 3 point line.
  4. If necessary: Cones

Drill #4: Conditioning Shooting (Mid-Range)

Drill #4: conditioning Shooting (Mid-RANGE)

  • You will shoot from both short corners, wings and the free throw line areas
  • After each shot, you will run to half court and back to the spot before shooting the ball again. Run after each shot attempt
  • Shoot 10x shots from each spot
  • Recommend: Have a teammate complete this drill with you! 

Key Points:

  1. Balance
  2. Be low
  3. Find your target

What You Need:

  1. A basketball
  2. A regulation hoop
  3. Cones (if required)

  • You will pick three spots to shoot from
  • After each shot, you will run to half court, or further, before shooting the ball again. Run after each shot attempt
  • Shoot 10x per spot
  • Recommend: Have a teammate complete this drill with you!

Key Points:

  1. Balance.
  2. Be low. 
  3. Find your target.
  4. Game pace!
